Indian equity markets opened marginally higher on Monday, mirroring firm global cues and sustained investor appetite. The Sensex edged up 122 points to 85,354, while the Nifty gained 41 points to trade at 26,109. Analysts noted that despite minor profit-booking after touching a fresh peak of 26,246, the broader sentiment remains distinctly bullish.
Market experts highlighted that Nifty&rsquo;s close above the 26,000 mark underscores persistent buying interest, supported by its strong positioning above the 20, 50 and 200-day EMAs. Key resistance is seen at 26,100 and 26,250, while immediate support lies at 26,000 and 25,900, levels that continue to encourage a buy-on-dips strategy for disciplined traders.
IT and banking heavyweights powered early gains, with Infosys, HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra, TCS, HDFC Bank, Titan and Bajaj Finance rising between 0.4% and 2%. Meanwhile, select majors such as M&amp;M, Power Grid, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, BEL and Ultratech Cement weighed on the indices, slipping up to 1.2%.
Mid- and small-cap indices also extended their steady recovery, with Nifty MidCap climbing 0.14% and SmallCap up 0.13%. Sectorally, IT led with a 1.5% jump, followed by PSU Banks. Realty and Defence indices lagged. Analysts said that while global sentiment will guide intraday momentum, &ldquo;the strongest catalyst for the ongoing rally remains robust earnings projections, with FY27 expected to deliver above 15% growth.&rdquo;
