The Solvent Extractors&rsquo; Association of India (SEA) and the UK-based Federation of Oils, Seeds and Fats Associations (FOSFA International) have formalised a new partnership aimed at strengthening global trade in the oils and fats sector. The two organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on November 19, 2025, creating a structured platform for cooperation between the Indian and international markets.
According to the agreement, both bodies will work together to scale up trade opportunities, widen market access, and improve knowledge exchange across the oils, seeds and fats supply chain. The collaboration also covers joint research efforts, training programmes, and the promotion of global best practices to upgrade industry standards.
A Joint Working Group (JWG) will be formed with representatives from both SEA and FOSFA to monitor developments under the MoU. The group will meet twice a year to evaluate progress, address sector-specific challenges and coordinate upcoming initiatives.
Industry officials believe the partnership will strengthen India&rsquo;s engagement with global trade frameworks, improve technical capacity, and support long-term growth in the oils and fats ecosystem. The MoU is expected to benefit traders, processors and allied sectors by improving industry readiness in an increasingly competitive global market.
