PhonePe has entered the co-branded credit card segment through a strategic partnership with HDFC Bank, launching the PhonePe HDFC Bank RuPay Credit Card. This card integrates with UPI, offering benefits tailored for India&rsquo;s digital-first consumers.
Available in two variants &mdash; Ultimo and UNO &mdash; the card offers up to 10% reward points on spends made through the PhonePe app in categories like bill payments, recharges, travel bookings, and purchases on its hyperlocal platform, Pincode. It also provides 5% rewards on select online shopping and 1% rewards on all UPI scan-and-pay transactions.
Users can apply directly through the PhonePe app, with a 100% digital application process. Once issued by HDFC Bank, the card can be linked with PhonePe and used across UPI-enabled merchants.
The Ultimo variant also offers two free domestic lounge accesses per quarter, enhancing the travel experience.
PhonePe&rsquo;s Chief Business Officer, Sonika Chandra, highlighted that this partnership aims to &ldquo;redefine the credit card experience&rdquo; by blending fintech and banking strengths. HDFC Bank&rsquo;s Parag Rao emphasised the bank&rsquo;s intent to expand credit access to digitally savvy users.
The card rollout will be phased, starting with eligible PhonePe users.
