Mumbai's property market is on a roll. Between January and June 2025, the city recorded 75,982 property registrations, a 5% rise year-on-year, marking its strongest half-yearly performance in over a decade, according to Knight Frank India.
Revenue collections from these registrations surged by 15% YoY to ₹6,727 crore, highlighting robust market momentum.
In June alone, 11,521 properties were registered, a marginal dip of 1%, while revenues climbed 2% to ₹1,031 crore. The residential segment remained dominant, accounting for 80% of registrations.
&ldquo;Buyer confidence is visible,&rdquo; said Shishir Baijal, CMD, Knight Frank India. &ldquo;Even with some cooling in the mid-price range, demand for larger and high-end homes, particularly above ₹5 crore, is sustaining revenue growth.&rdquo;
June showed a shift in market behaviour, with 6% of sales from premium properties, up from 5% last year. Compact homes still lead the trend &mdash; 84% of transactions involved units under 1,000 sq ft. Apartments between 500&ndash;1,000 sq ft made up the largest share at 45%, followed by units below 500 sq ft (39%). Larger units above 1,000 sq ft maintained a steady 16% share.
The data underscores both the city's long-term demand for compact homes and the growing pull of luxury housing.
