Indian stock markets are poised for a volatile week ahead as a mix of global and domestic factors weighs on investor sentiment. Key triggers include the ongoing Israel-Iran tensions, fluctuations in crude oil prices, the upcoming US Federal Reserve policy decision, and India&rsquo;s wholesale inflation data.
Geopolitical stress in the Middle East has already impacted market performance, and any escalation could further unsettle global equities. Meanwhile, the US Fed will meet on June 17&ndash;18, and its stance on inflation and interest rates is expected to affect foreign fund flows into emerging markets like India.
Back home, India&rsquo;s WPI inflation and trade balance figures for May, scheduled for release on June 16, will be closely tracked for cues on the domestic economic outlook.
Last week saw a sharp sell-off in Indian equities. The benchmark indices&mdash;Nifty and Sensex&mdash;fell over 1% to close at 24,718 and 81,118, respectively. FMCG, realty, PSU banks, and consumption stocks were major drags, each losing more than 2%. However, selective buying in pharma, IT, and media stocks provided some relief.
FIIs remained net sellers, pulling out Rs 1,246 crore, while DIIs showed confidence, investing Rs 18,637 crore in the cash segment.
According to Bajaj Broking, the Nifty continues to consolidate within the 24,400&ndash;25,200 range. A break below 24,400 could push it toward 24,000, while a breakout above 25,000 may hint at market recovery.
