The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has introduced a new module on the Saral Sanchar portal for enterprises seeking direct spectrum allocation for Captive Non-Public Networks (CNPNs). This module aims to gather fresh demand across various frequency bands and conduct a nationwide demand survey to evaluate viable spectrum options for CNPN-based services.
Only enterprises with a net worth exceeding ₹100 crore or System Integrators partnering with such firms are eligible to participate. Applications can be submitted between July 1 and July 31 on the Saral Sanchar portal.
Under existing CNPN guidelines, enterprises can establish private 4G/5G networks using spectrum either through telecom service providers (TSPs) or direct allocation by DoT. These private networks are critical for operations requiring secure, low-latency, high-reliability connectivity.
Earlier proposals were hindered due to limited device compatibility in certain frequency bands. However, DoT has now observed a matured device ecosystem in IMT bands, along with growing 5G adoption and enterprise use cases. The module launch reflects renewed interest and readiness in India's private network infrastructure.
