A bomb scare at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) in South Mumbai sent security forces into overdrive on Tuesday after a threatening email warned of imminent explosions.
The email, reportedly sent from an account named &ldquo;Comrade Pinayari Vijayan,&rdquo; claimed that four RDX-laden IEDs had been planted inside the BSE&rsquo;s Feroze Tower and were set to detonate at 3 PM.
Authorities immediately launched a coordinated search operation. Mumbai Police, along with bomb detection and disposal squads, rushed to the scene and secured the premises.
Despite a thorough sweep, no explosive devices were discovered. The threat was later confirmed to be a hoax. A case has been registered at Mata Ramabai Ambedkar Marg Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita, and a probe is underway to trace the origin of the email.
This incident comes close on the heels of multiple hoax bomb threats reported on Monday. Three schools in Delhi and the Golden Temple in Amritsar also received similar threats, sparking temporary panic and emergency security checks.
In Amritsar, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) filed a complaint after an email threatened to target the Darbar Sahib and the temple&rsquo;s langar hall. No explosives were found during the sweep.
Commenting on the temple threat, Amritsar MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla stated on X, &ldquo;This is not just a threat to a religious site &ndash; it&rsquo;s an attack on peace, faith, and humanity.&rdquo;
Authorities are taking all incidents seriously amid growing concerns over misuse of digital platforms to spread fear.
