A 69-year-old Pakistani national, Abdul Waheed, died of cardiac arrest in Amritsar on Wednesday ahead of his return, officials confirmed. Waheed had been residing in India for the last 17 years and was found by police to be in possession of an expired visa.&nbsp;
He had been brought from Srinagar by the Jammu and Kashmir police for return to Pakistan.
Cross-border movement through the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at the Attari border continued as a total of 224 individuals holding No Obligation to Return to India (NORI) visas crossed into India. In parallel, 139 Pakistani nationals crossed over to the other side.
Among those entering India was Monika Rajani, a 35-year-old Pakistani passport holder with a NORI and Long Term Visa (LTV). She was accompanied by her five-year-old daughter, Saimara, who was born in India.&nbsp;
Rajani stated, "I have crossed over to India from Pakistan in a panic with the fear that ICP may be closed at any time. I belong to a Hindu family and married a Hindu man at Vijayawada around nine years back. My in-laws and husband from Vijayawada were waiting here to receive me."
She further said, "I crossed over to India at 3 pm, where it took around three hours for customs and Immigration clearance. It was difficult for children travelling with their mothers to wait for all the necessary clearances due to the scorching heat."&nbsp;
Rajani added that before proceeding to Vijayawada, her family intended to visit the Golden Temple.
The developments come in the wake of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, after which the Central government announced a series of measures, including suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, downgrading diplomatic ties with Islamabad, and ordering all Pakistani nationals on short-term visas to leave India or face legal action.
