A major scare was reported at Delhi&rsquo;s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on Tuesday after a bus caught fire near an aircraft at Terminal 3. 
The bus, operated by AISATS &mdash; a ground handling company &mdash; was completely vacant at the time of the incident, officials confirmed.
According to airport authorities, the fire broke out around 1 pm when the CNG-powered passenger bus, parked on the airside of Terminal 3, suddenly caught fire. 
The airport&rsquo;s Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) team immediately responded and extinguished the flames within minutes.
&ldquo;In a stray incident, a bus operated by one of the ground handlers caught fire around noon today. Our expert ARFF team swung into action and extinguished the fire within a couple of minutes. The bus was stationary and vacant at the time of the incident. There were no injuries or casualties, and airport operations remain normal. Passenger and staff safety is our top priority,&rdquo; Delhi Airport said in an official statement.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI) Vichitra Veer confirmed that the fire was reported at around 1:00 pm. 
&ldquo;Fire tenders, local police, and CISF personnel rushed to the scene to contain the blaze. The bus was not carrying passengers or luggage, and only the driver was inside at the time,&rdquo; he said.
Visuals from the site showed the bus engulfed in flames just a few metres from an Air India aircraft.&nbsp;
The fire was fully controlled within 2&ndash;3 minutes, preventing any damage to nearby planes or airport infrastructure.
Authorities are now conducting an inspection to determine the exact cause of the fire.
