A 20-year-old woman lost her life, and six others remain missing after a boat carrying farmers capsized in the Sone River near Raghunathpur sand ghat in Bihar&rsquo;s Aurangabad district on Friday morning, police confirmed.
According to Aurangabad SDPO Sanjay Kumar Pandey, the boat was transporting 18 farmers, including 16 women, to Sone Dila, a highland in the river where they had earlier planted potato crops and were heading to weed them.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the mishap occurred when the vessel entered a 100-foot-wide stretch of deep water with strong currents and got trapped in a whirlpool around 9 a.m. &ldquo;Around 12 people were rescued by local fishermen and divers, but six women went missing along with the boat,&rdquo; Pandey said.
The deceased has been identified as Tamanna, a resident of Badem village.&nbsp;
Authorities suspect that the missing women might have been swept away by the powerful currents.
Rescue operations are currently underway with teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) deployed from Patna and Gaya.&nbsp;
Local administration officials and villagers are also assisting in the search for the missing individuals.
Officials stated that the tragedy underscores the risks faced by rural farmers who rely on small boats to reach river islands for cultivation. 
District authorities have advised villagers to avoid crossing deep water channels amid rising currents and have assured compensation and support for the victims&rsquo; families once rescue efforts conclude.
