At least six people were killed and two others injured after a massive fire engulfed a firecracker manufacturing unit in Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema district of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday, officials said.
Superintendent of Police Rahul Meena stated that the blaze was likely triggered by the mishandling of explosive materials inside the facility. 
&ldquo;Six bodies have been recovered. We are verifying the details. It appears to be a licensed unit,&rdquo; Meena told PTI, adding that the injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The incident took place at the Bana Sancha manufacturing centre in Rayavaram, causing widespread panic as loud explosions were heard. 
Firefighters and rescue teams rushed to the spot to bring the flames under control and prevent further damage. 
Rescue operations continued for several hours as officials examined the extent of destruction.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and directed senior officials to visit the site and oversee relief efforts.
&ldquo;A fire accident at the Bana Sancha manufacturing centre in Rayavaram has caused immense grief. I have instructed officials to ensure the best medical care for the injured and provide full assistance to affected families,&rdquo; Naidu said.
Authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the fire and check whether proper safety protocols were followed at the unit.
