Almost after six months the Rajasthan Forest Department has woke up from Sombre and realised that 25 tigers are missing from the Ranthambhore National Park. What is more shocking is that 14 tigers were not seen since May 2024, yet, no one bothered to start trace. Now, when it has awakened, it has appointed 3-member committee to investigate the disappearance.
Rajasthan government on 4th November issued an order raising concern over the missing tigers. Stunning fact is that several reminders were sent to the Park&rsquo;s field Director in the last few months about missing tigers, but he cared little about searching them, as per the government report till the mid-October 2024 11 tigers have been missing for over a year and 14 tigers were not seen since May 2024. These 14 tigers very little activities is been recorded on the monitoring devices.
Taking control of the situation, Chief Wild Warden Pavan Kumar Upadhyay told media persons, &ldquo;We have identified some monitoring gaps that need to be addressed, I have started collecting weekly report, according to these reports these tigers&rsquo; activities are not recorded on any cameras. The investigating committee is expected to submit its report within two months.&rdquo; 
The Ranthambore park is spread over 900 square kilo-meters and its habitat 75 tigers including cubs and younger ones. The population is higher than the park&rsquo;s capacity to handle 40 adult tigers. The Wildlife Institute of India study reports that overcrowding leads to territorial disputes and fights among tigers.
