Former India head coach Ravi Shastri lauded KL Rahul for his brilliant century but also took the opportunity to clear misconceptions surrounding the batter&rsquo;s role in Test cricket.
KL Rahul 2.0 appears to be in full bloom. 
Since the retirements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the right-handed opener has taken charge of India&rsquo;s batting lineup. 
He was instrumental in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England, amassing 532 runs across five Tests. 
Continuing his fine form, Rahul began the home season on a high by scoring his 11th Test century on Day 2 of the opening match against the West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
As Rahul brought up his 10th Test ton as an opener, Shastri stepped in to correct what he called a &ldquo;misconception&rdquo; about the cricketer&rsquo;s position in the lineup. 
For years, many believed Rahul&rsquo;s inconsistency stemmed from being frequently moved around in the batting order.
However, Shastri presented data to refute that narrative. 
He noted that since 2016, Rahul has opened the innings in 94 out of 110 Test innings, suggesting that the talk of him being unsettled in various positions is unfounded.
