Donald Trump&rsquo;s social media platform, Truth Social, is venturing into the prediction market space by allowing users to place bets on real-world events including politics, the economy, sports, and entertainment.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by the Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), the parent company of Truth Social. 
The platform will soon introduce a feature that enables users to wager on outcomes such as election results, interest rate and inflation changes, gold and crude oil prices, and major sporting events.
The betting option will be powered through a partnership with Crypto.com, the company said in a statement.
Unlike traditional gambling, these &ldquo;prediction markets&rdquo; are classified differently by federal authorities. 
They are regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) rather than state gambling boards, which oversee casinos and lotteries.
Users will be able to buy contracts representing a specific outcome, which yield profits if the prediction comes true &mdash; for instance, correctly forecasting an election result or a team&rsquo;s victory.
The prediction market industry has grown rapidly in recent years. Earlier this month, Intercontinental Exchange, the operator of the New York Stock Exchange, invested $2 billion in Polymarket, one of the leading platforms in this space.
While popular among younger audiences, these apps have sparked concerns about addiction and financial risks associated with constant betting.
Despite its growing portfolio of projects &mdash; including ventures into cryptocurrency-based financial products and a video streaming service &mdash; TMTG&rsquo;s revenues remain modest.&nbsp;
The company reported just $1.7 million in revenue during the first half of 2025, along with a net loss of $51.7 million, according to filings with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
