Tesla, the electric vehicle company led by billionaire Elon Musk, is facing a class-action lawsuit alleging discriminatory hiring practices that favour H1-B visa holders over American citizens.
The lawsuit, filed in a San Francisco federal court, claims that Tesla has violated federal civil rights law by showing a &ldquo;systematic preference&rdquo; for foreign workers on H1-B visas. It alleges that the company hires visa holders at lower wages while disproportionately firing U.S. citizens compared to their foreign counterparts.
According to the plaintiffs, this hiring pattern has created an uneven playing field, disadvantaging American workers in Tesla&rsquo;s workforce. The suit argues that the practice not only undermines employment opportunities for citizens but also constitutes unlawful discrimination.
Tesla has not yet issued an official statement in response to the lawsuit.
