Dhaka, Aug 12&nbsp; - Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor of Bangladesh's interim government, is set to meet with leaders of the country's minority communities in Dhaka on Tuesday. This meeting follows a series of violent incidents, particularly targeting Hindus, that have been reported across the country since former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned on August 5.
During a press conference on Monday, Abul Fayez Muhammad Khalid Hossain, an Islamic scholar and the Advisor for Religious Affairs in Yunus's interim government, emphasized the administration's commitment to maintaining communal harmony. Hossain condemned the attacks on minorities, attributing them to "miscreants" and vowed that the government would take action against those responsible.
In the briefing held at the Secretariat building, Hossain reassured the public that those involved in the attacks would be punished. He also announced the launch of a hotline on Monday for citizens to report any incidents of violence against minority communities.
Hossain further stated that the government is compiling a list of destroyed houses and temples. Victims will receive financial assistance as part of the government's response to the attacks.
On Sunday, Brigadier General (Retd) M Sakhawat Hossain, the interim government's Home Affairs Advisor, issued an apology to the Hindu community for the government's failure to protect them amid the ongoing violence. He called for societal protection of minorities and expressed regret over the inadequate policing.
Sakhawat Hossain assured that enhanced security measures would be implemented for the upcoming Hindu festivals of Janmashtami and Durga Puja.
On Saturday, a massive protest rally was held in Chittagong, with tens of thousands of Hindus demanding safety and equal rights in response to the recent violence. The rally, which saw over seven lakh participants according to some estimates, took place at the historic Cheragi Pahar square and highlighted the community's growing concerns.
Reports indicate that hundreds of Hindus have been injured as radicals targeted their homes, businesses, and temples in recent days. This violence poses a significant challenge for the interim government, which was sworn in on August 8 under the leadership of Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus.
On August 9, the Bangladesh Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Oikya Parishad sent an open letter to Yunus, expressing deep concern over the escalating violence against minorities. The letter described the dire situation facing these communities, with widespread fear and uncertainty taking hold since Sheikh Hasina's departure.
The letter also noted that thousands of Hindu families have been rendered destitute, with many temples attacked and burned. The violence has also included assaults on women and multiple murders, impacting other minority groups as well.
According to the Dhaka Tribune, the Bangladesh Hindu Jagran Mancha has been organizing protests in response to the vandalism, arson, and attacks on the Hindu community. 
During a rally in Dhaka's Shahbagh, the Hindu community outlined four key demands, including the creation of a ministry for minorities, the formation of a minority protection commission, stricter laws to prevent attacks, and the allocation of 10% of parliamentary seats for minorities.
The interim government has also faced criticism for excluding religious texts other than the Quran during its swearing-in ceremony. Critics argue that this exclusion contradicts Bangladesh's Constitution, the spirit of the Liberation War, and the nation's commitment to anti-discrimination values. The unity council has called for the inclusion of readings from all major religious texts in future state functions.

રવિવારે, બ્રિગેડિયર જનરલ (નિવૃત્ત) એમ સખાવત હુસૈન, વચગાળાની સરકારના ગૃહ બાબતોના સલાહકાર, હિંદુ સમુદાયને ચાલુ હિંસા વચ્ચે તેમની સુરક્ષા કરવામાં સરકારની નિષ્ફળતા બદલ માફી માંગી. તેમણે લઘુમતીઓના સામાજિક રક્ષણ માટે હાકલ કરી અને અપૂરતી પોલીસિંગ પર ખેદ વ્યક્ત કર્યો.
સખાવત હુસૈને ખાતરી આપી હતી કે જન્માષ્ટમી અને દુર્ગા પૂજાના આગામી હિંદુ તહેવારો માટે સુરક્ષાના વધારાના પગલાં લાગુ કરવામાં આવશે.

ઢાકાના શાહબાગમાં એક રેલી દરમિયાન, હિંદુ સમુદાયે લઘુમતીઓ માટે મંત્રાલયની રચના, લઘુમતી સંરક્ષણ આયોગની રચના, હુમલાઓને રોકવા માટે કડક કાયદાઓ અને લઘુમતીઓ માટે સંસદીય બેઠકોના 10% ફાળવણી સહિત ચાર મુખ્ય માંગણીઓની રૂપરેખા આપી.
