US President Donald Trump triggered renewed debate over the presidential term limit after posting an AI-generated image on his Truth Social account showing him holding a blue sign that read &ldquo;TRUMP 2028, YES!&rdquo; The post, captioned &ldquo;TRUMPLICANS!&rdquo;, quickly prompted questions about whether he intends to signal interest in a third-term bid despite constitutional restrictions.
The post comes nearly ten months into Trump&rsquo;s second non-consecutive term, which began on January 20, 2025, as he advances his &ldquo;America First 2.0&rdquo; agenda alongside a Republican-controlled Congress. 
His administration has been pushing policies that include stricter immigration measures and increased tariffs on key trading partners.
The &ldquo;Trump 2028&rdquo; slogan has become an increasingly visible motif during Trump&rsquo;s current term, appearing on merchandise and in subtle references at public events. 
In September, he shared photos of &ldquo;Trump 2028&rdquo; hats placed on his Resolute Desk during a meeting with Democratic leaders Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer.
Republican leaders have attempted to downplay the speculation. 
House Speaker Mike Johnson previously said Trump was merely having a &ldquo;good time... trolling.&rdquo; 
Asked about constitutional limits, he remarked: &ldquo;There is the 22nd Amendment... I think the president knows. And he and I have talked about the constrictions of the Constitution.&rdquo;
Trump himself has acknowledged the restriction, saying last month, &ldquo;I&rsquo;m not allowed to run, it&rsquo;s too bad.&rdquo;
Meanwhile, early political maneuvering for the 2028 Republican nomination is underway. 
A new McLaughlin and Associates survey suggests Donald Trump Jr. is gaining traction among party voters, emerging as a potential challenger to Vice President JD Vance.
In August, Vance led the field with 36 per cent support against Trump Jr.&rsquo;s 16%.
By October, the gap narrowed, with Vance at 38% and Trump Jr. rising to 20%.&nbsp;
The trend continued into November: Vance dropped to 34 per cent while Trump Jr. climbed to 24%, reducing the lead to ten points.
Speculation continues to grow as Trump amplifies 2028-related imagery, even as the Constitution limits presidents to two elected terms.
