The Kerala Legislative Assembly on Thursday suspended three Congress legislators after an intense protest inside the House turned violent. The suspended members - Roji M. John, M. Vincent, and Saneesh Kumar Joseph have been barred from attending the remainder of the current session.
The decision came after Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. B. Rajesh tabled a government resolution, accusing the MLAs of &ldquo;crossing the point of no return&rdquo; by assaulting Watch and Ward personnel. According to the resolution, the legislators were involved in manhandling assembly staff, including the Chief Marshal, who sustained injuries during the scuffle.
The incident took place amid heated opposition protests in the Assembly over various issues. UDF MLAs reportedly rushed toward the Speaker&rsquo;s podium, raised slogans, and displayed banners inside the House. In the ensuing chaos, officials were allegedly attacked, leading to the suspension of the three members.
The opposition members walked out in protest as the resolution was moved and passed in their absence. The suspension will remain in effect for the rest of the ongoing session.
This dramatic episode has further escalated tensions between the ruling front and the opposition, with both sides accusing each other of disrupting the dignity of the Assembly.
