RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Thursday made a major pre-poll announcement, pledging that every household in Bihar would have at least one member employed in a government job if his party returns to power.
Addressing a press conference, Yadav declared that within 20 days of forming the government, a new law would be introduced to guarantee employment to every family in the state. He further assured that the scheme would be fully operational within 20 months of taking office.
&ldquo;We will ensure that every household will have a person with a government job after our government comes to power. We will make a new Act for it within 20 days of forming the government, and in 20 months, not a single house will be without a government job,&rdquo; Yadav stated.
The announcement comes as Bihar gears up for the crucial 2025 assembly elections. The 243-member Assembly will go to the polls in two phases on November 6 and November 11, with counting of votes scheduled for November 14.
According to the Election Commission, the total number of electors in the final list stands at 7.42 crore. Earlier, there were 7.89 crore electors as of June 24 this year. Around 65 lakh names were removed from the draft list, leaving 7.24 crore voters in the updated rolls as of August 1, 2025.
Yadav&rsquo;s ambitious promise is expected to set the tone for a high-stakes election battle, with employment emerging as a key poll issue.
