Born in 1974 in Nandgarh village, Jind district, Haryana, Rekha Gupta moved to Delhi with her family in 1976. Her father was an officer in the State Bank of India, and she spent her formative years in the national capital, where she pursued her education. She joined the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), during her academic years and quickly emerged as a prominent student leader.
Gupta was elected secretary of Daulat Ram College and later became the president of the Delhi University Students&rsquo; Union (DUSU) in 1995-96. She further pursued a degree in law (LLB), which laid the foundation for her political career.
Rekha Gupta&rsquo;s political career formally began in 2003-04 when she joined the Delhi BJP Yuva Morcha as secretary. She later became the national secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) from 2004 to 2006. Her ascent within the party structure continued with significant milestones:

She continued to work within BJP&rsquo;s organizational framework and served as the general secretary of Delhi BJP and the national vice-president of BJP&rsquo;s Mahila Morcha.
Gupta&rsquo;s persistence paid off in the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections when she secured a decisive victory over Vandana Kumari. Her win solidified her position as a formidable leader, ultimately leading to her selection as the Chief Ministerial candidate.
