A powerful explosion ripped through Quetta on Tuesday, targeting the headquarters of Pakistan&rsquo;s Frontier Constabulary, leaving at least ten people dead and over 30 injured. The assault began when a car pulled up outside the compound, moments later, attackers stepped out, unleashing gunfire before detonating the vehicle.
Eyewitness videos captured the chilling moment the car halted near the gates, followed by a thunderous blast that shattered windows, damaged vehicles, and shook buildings miles away. &ldquo;The windowpanes of my house shattered, and part of the building was damaged. But, thanks to God, we are all safe,&rdquo; said Mohammad Usman, a local resident.
Authorities confirmed that all six militants involved in the attack were killed during the gun battle. Interior minister Mohsin Naqvi noted that security forces responded swiftly, preventing an even greater tragedy.
While no group has claimed responsibility yet, suspicion falls on separatist outfits that frequently strike in insurgency-hit Balochistan. Provincial health minister Bakhat Kakar warned the death toll may rise as several victims remain critical.
Condemning the attack, Balochistan chief minister Sarfraz Bugti declared: &ldquo;Terrorists cannot break the nation&rsquo;s resolve through cowardly acts. The sacrifices of our people and security forces will not go in vain.&rdquo; Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari also expressed solidarity with the victims and praised security personnel for their bravery.
The bombing comes just weeks after another deadly blast near Quetta that killed 13 people outside a stadium. Tuesday&rsquo;s carnage underscores the volatile security situation in the province, where civilians and security forces remain frequent targets.
