The judicial commission set up to probe the crackdown on Nepal&rsquo;s recent &ldquo;Gen Z&rdquo; protests has recommended confiscating the passports of former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and four other officials.
The panel has also instructed that Oli, ex-Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, and other accused individuals must obtain permission before leaving Kathmandu to ensure their availability for the ongoing investigation.
The protests, which erupted on September 8, turned violent when security forces opened fire, resulting in at least 19 deaths on the first day. Former Prime Minister Oli has denied ordering the use of firearms against protesters.
The commission&rsquo;s recommendations are part of a broader investigation into the handling of the protests and accountability of top officials involved in the crackdown.
