Madhya Pradesh Minister Vijay Shah&rsquo;s absence from public and official engagements has sparked protests by the Indore Congress, which has launched a poster campaign across the city declaring him "missing" and offering a reward for his whereabouts.
Shah has been under fire for the past two weeks over controversial remarks about Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, who played a prominent role in Operation Sindoor, the military action targeting terror camps in Pakistan. During a public event, Shah allegedly referred to her as a &ldquo;sister of terrorists,&rdquo; triggering nationwide outrage.
An FIR was filed against him on May 15 at Manpura police station, after which he has remained out of the public eye, skipping key events including a cabinet meeting in Indore.
&ldquo;This is a failure of the BJP government&rsquo;s home department and intelligence. Our protest will continue until Shah resigns,&rdquo; said Vivek Khandelwal, acting president of the Indore District Congress Seva Dal.
Despite public pressure and calls from opposition leaders and some within the BJP, Shah&rsquo;s resignation has not been accepted. The Congress has intensified protests by pasting posters across Indore that mockingly announce a reward for finding the "missing" minister.
The Supreme Court has appointed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case, and a report is awaited. Tensions remain high amid political unrest.
On Friday, Shah appeared in a video message apologizing for his remarks, calling them a linguistic error. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav stated that the BJP will wait for court orders before taking further action.
