<p data-start="340" data-end="653"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Referring to a long-standing narrative used by Nitish Kumar to criticize the "Jungle Raj" of the Lalu-Rabri era, the former Chief Minister asked pointedly, &ldquo;Nitish Kumar used to claim people were afraid to step out after 5 p.m. Can he now explain how many crimes are taking place in broad daylight before 5 p.m.?&rdquo;</span></p>
<p data-start="655" data-end="896"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Taking to social media platform X, Lalu cited official data to claim that over 65,000 murders have occurred during Nitish Kumar&rsquo;s tenure as Chief Minister. &ldquo;Does he even realize the scale of violence under his own rule?&rdquo; Lalu questioned.</span></p>
<p data-start="898" data-end="1189"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">He went further to accuse the Nitish Kumar-BJP alliance of completely dismantling Bihar&rsquo;s policing system. &ldquo;This alliance hasn&rsquo;t just broken the law-and-order machinery &mdash; they&rsquo;ve buried it. Today, Bihar has one of the most corrupt and indifferent police forces in the country,&rdquo; Lalu alleged.</span></p>
<p data-start="1191" data-end="1449"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">The criticism comes in the wake of a shocking double murder in Patna&rsquo;s Alamganj locality, where three members of a family were shot in broad daylight. Two of them later succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, raising further concerns over public safety.</span></p>
<p data-start="1451" data-end="1792"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Lalu&rsquo;s remarks follow a statement by Additional Director General (Headquarters) Kundan Krishnan, who acknowledged a slight increase in murder cases during a recent press conference. According to police records, the monthly average of murder cases in Bihar has risen from 232 in 2024 to 233 per month in the first five months of 2025.</span></p>
