Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara has stirred a political storm by declaring that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah &ldquo;has no money&rdquo; left in the treasury as it has all been distributed to the public through ration schemes. While inaugurating a new Fire and Emergency Services building, Parameshwara said: &ldquo;Siddaramanna has no money. Whatever we had, we gave it to the people&mdash;rice, grains, dal, oil.&rdquo; He urged local officials to draft a development plan and seek funds from the Centre, citing the state&rsquo;s inability to fund projects due to depleted resources.
Former Infosys CFO and activist T.V. Mohandas Pai reacted sharply, calling it a &ldquo;disastrous impact of freebies&rdquo; and questioning how Karnataka will fund jobs or development over the remaining two years of the government&rsquo;s tenure.
Karnataka BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra also slammed the government, alleging financial mismanagement and claiming Siddaramaiah is &ldquo;looting the state.&rdquo;
Parameshwara also highlighted the poor infrastructure at Badami&rsquo;s historic cave temples and appealed to the Centre for ₹1,000 crore to develop the heritage town.
The comment has intensified debate around the long-term impact of the Congress government&rsquo;s guarantee schemes and the sustainability of populist welfare spending.
