Heavy security has been deployed in Bihar&rsquo;s Mokama Assembly constituency, near the state capital Patna, following the killing of gangster-turned-politician Dular Chand Yadav.
He was allegedly shot dead during an election campaign on Thursday while campaigning for his nephew and Jan Suraaj Party candidate Piyush Priyadarshi.
Once a well-known name in Bihar&rsquo;s political circles, Dular Chand was accompanying Priyadarshi in Mokama, where polling will take place in the first phase on November 6.&nbsp;
The seat is witnessing a heated triangular contest &mdash; the Janata Dal (United) has fielded strongman Anant Singh, while the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has nominated Veena Devi, wife of former MP and influential leader Surajbhan Singh.
According to Yadav&rsquo;s family, he was shot and then run over by a vehicle while campaigning in Basavanchak village. 
Supporters of the Jan Suraaj Party alleged that Priyadarshi&rsquo;s convoy was trailing Anant Singh&rsquo;s vehicle when Singh&rsquo;s supporters attacked them with sticks and rods. 
They claimed several luxury cars were damaged, and Dular Chand was assaulted when he tried to intervene.
Enraged supporters of Yadav &mdash; once a feared figure in the Mokama wetlands &mdash; gathered at the scene soon after his death.
Anant Singh, however, denied any role in the incident, instead blaming former MP Surajbhan Singh.
&ldquo;Our vehicles were also vandalised. This is all Surajbhan&rsquo;s doing. Dularchand was close to him and used to stay with him,&rdquo; Singh said, as quoted by Hindustan Times.
Post-mortem amid tight security
On Friday, Dular Chand Yadav&rsquo;s body was taken for post-mortem to Barh, under heavy police security. 
A large contingent of personnel was stationed along the route and outside the Sub-Divisional Hospital in Barh, where the autopsy was conducted, as per reports by ANI and PTI.
Patna Range Inspector General (IG) Jitendra Rana said police were camping in the area to prevent any retaliation or violence.
&ldquo;The focus is on completing the post-mortem swiftly. Preliminary findings suggest there were no firearm injuries on the upper part of the victim&rsquo;s body. We are awaiting the family&rsquo;s complaint,&rdquo; he said.
Police have stated that the exact cause of death will be confirmed only after the post-mortem report is received.
