As the brief but stormy Monsoon Session of the Rajasthan Assembly concluded, tensions between Speaker Vasudev Devnani and the Opposition Congress flared up, with fresh allegations of surveillance inside the House.
Leader of Opposition Tika Ram Jully claimed that Devnani had installed two upgraded cameras equipped with audio recording features in the Assembly, giving him access to private conversations of Congress MLAs. 
&ldquo;They say this is not a private space, but we prepare our Assembly strategy here. We discuss issues among ourselves&mdash;if they are listening to all this, then how can we function?&rdquo; Jully alleged.
The controversy came amid Congress&rsquo;s criticism of the BJP-led government for pushing a Bill on religious conversions despite the state itself admitting there were &ldquo;zero cases of love jihad&rdquo; and only 13 conversion cases in the past five years.
Responding to the charges, Speaker Devnani firmly rejected the claims, arguing that the cameras are meant for 360-degree coverage of the Assembly and do not target individuals. 
He dismissed the allegations as &ldquo;technically and logically unsound.&rdquo;
