In a dramatic turn of events, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K Kavitha was on Tuesday suspended from the party following her explosive accusations against her cousins&mdash;former Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao and former MP Joginapally Santosh Kumar.
The decision was taken directly by BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), who viewed Kavitha&rsquo;s recent remarks and activities as going &ldquo;against the policies and principles of the party.&rdquo;
<h3 data-start="1074" data-end="1100">The suspension order</h3>
The BRS headquarters issued a statement saying: &ldquo;The recent behaviour of party MLC K Kavitha, her ongoing anti-party activities are damaging to the BRS. Party president K Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to immediately suspend K Kavitha from the party.&rdquo;
This move came just a day after Kavitha alleged that her cousins were behind a conspiracy to &ldquo;tag corruption&rdquo; on her father KCR in connection with the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project.
<h3 data-start="1556" data-end="1596">Family rift turns political crisis</h3>
Kavitha, who had already faced setbacks&mdash;most notably her removal on August 22 as honorary president of the Telangana Boggu Ghani Karmika Sangham (TBGKS) while she was abroad&mdash;described her ouster as &ldquo;politically motivated.&rdquo;
On Monday, September 1, the Revanth Reddy government referred the Kaleshwaram case to the CBI. Kavitha immediately claimed that her father had been made a &ldquo;scapegoat&rdquo; and directly accused Harish Rao of being the real source of the allegations.
She further alleged that Santosh Kumar and contractor PV Krishna Reddy of Megha Engineering had benefited personally, amassing wealth through irregularities.

Earlier on Tuesday, BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) reportedly met KCR and flagged Kavitha&rsquo;s repeated attacks on senior leaders, warning that they were creating serious divisions within the party.
Sources suggest that KCR, already under pressure from the CBI inquiry and the party&rsquo;s declining cohesion, considered her actions a direct threat to the party&rsquo;s unity.
