Indian stock markets were flat in early trade on Tuesday amid mixed global cues and continued FII outflows.
At 9:29 a.m., the BSE Sensex edged up just 1.69 points, standing at 80,892, while the NSE Nifty rose by 16 points to 24,696. The indices opened lower, with Nifty briefly touching the 24,600 mark.
Realty stocks led the market early, while IT and financial stocks remained under pressure. Nifty Realty was the top-performing sector, while Nifty IT fell 0.32%. Nifty Bank traded flat, slipping marginally by 0.01%.
Top Nifty gainers included JSW Steel, Jio Financial, IndusInd Bank, Reliance Industries, and Shriram Finance. On the downside, Eternal declined 1.64%, with Infosys, SBI Life, Wipro, and Bharat Electronics also dragging.
Analysts noted resistance for Nifty around 24,800&ndash;25,000 levels. A breakout above 25,000 is essential for halting current selling pressure, and until then, a &lsquo;sell-on-rise&rsquo; approach is advised.
Delays in the anticipated US-India trade deal ahead of the August 1 deadline are dampening investor sentiment.
Globally, the Dow Jones slipped 0.14%, while the Nasdaq gained 0.33%. Asian markets traded mixed&mdash;Japan&rsquo;s Nikkei fell 0.91%, Hong Kong&rsquo;s Hang Seng dropped 0.93%, while South Korea&rsquo;s Kospi rose 0.59%.
FIIs extended their selling spree, offloading equities worth ₹6,082 crore. Meanwhile, DIIs remained net buyers with purchases worth ₹6,764 crore.
