After four consecutive sessions of losses, Indian stock markets saw a strong recovery on Tuesday, supported by positive global cues, easing retail inflation and continued foreign fund inflows.
The BSE Sensex rose by 317 points or 0.39 percent to close at 82,570.91. The NSE Nifty ended 113.5 points higher at 25,195.8, marking a gain of 0.45 percent.
Market sentiment improved due to a combination of domestic and global factors. Analysts said the decline in inflation to multi-year lows has increased expectations of a possible interest rate cut by the Reserve Bank of India, which could further boost economic growth.
Broader markets also rallied. The Nifty MidCap and SmallCap indices rose by nearly 0.95 percent, indicating strong investor interest beyond large-cap stocks.
All sectoral indices in the Nifty 50 closed in the green. The Nifty Auto index led the gains with a 1.5 percent rise. Pharma and Healthcare indices also posted solid gains of more than 1 percent. Other sectors including banking, energy, IT, metal, PSU banks, realty, consumer durables and oil and gas closed with gains of up to 1 percent.
The India VIX, which measures market volatility, fell by 4.17 percent to settle at 11.48, signaling reduced investor fear.
Experts attributed the rebound to falling inflation data and consistent buying by foreign institutional investors, which helped markets recover lost ground.
The Indian Rupee also strengthened against the US Dollar after two days of losses. This recovery was driven by renewed investor confidence in Indian equities and a softer US Dollar Index.
Looking ahead, investors are awaiting key US inflation data expected later today. This data is likely to influence global monetary policy expectations and may impact future decisions by the US Federal Reserve, especially amid ongoing trade-related uncertainties.
