Romania reels under violent storms as three people were killed and four others injured across 18 counties and the capital Bucharest. Emergency services reported widespread destruction, including toppled trees, power poles, flooded basements, and damaged vehicles.
In Arges county, a building roof collapse killed an 18 year old man and injured two others. Meanwhile, in Ilfov county, two people drowned after their kayak capsized in Lake Snagov&rsquo;s rough waters. In Bucharest and Prahova county, injuries were reported due to falling debris and trees. All four injured were hospitalized and remain conscious.
Authorities issued 19 weather alerts across 12 counties and the capital, urging residents to take shelter. Two elderly women, aged 85 and 83, were also victims of flash floods, with firefighters retrieving one body using an excavator from a riverbed.
The Environment Ministry&rsquo;s water management agency warned that some rivers reached record high levels. Repairs on collapsed bridges and clearing of flood-hit areas are underway. Officials noted that extreme weather events are becoming more frequent this summer, urging caution during storm warnings.
