The United States has approved military sales worth nearly USD 93 million to India, marking another major step in the deepening strategic partnership between the two nations. The latest clearance from Washington includes Javelin anti-tank missile systems and Excalibur precision projectiles, aimed at strengthening India&rsquo;s defence preparedness.
According to the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency, India&rsquo;s request covers 100 FGM-148 Javelin missiles, a fly-to-buy round, 25 command launch units, and 216 Excalibur tactical projectiles. The agency highlighted that the deal is designed to enhance India&rsquo;s ability to counter current and emerging security challenges while reinforcing cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
The approval aligns with the broader 10-year defence cooperation framework recently finalised by New Delhi and Washington. The long-term plan focuses on expanding collaboration in military technology, co-production, logistics, and information sharing.
Earlier in Kuala Lumpur, India&rsquo;s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to formalise the framework. Both sides emphasised that the partnership will guide future defence initiatives and reflects the increasing strategic alignment between the world&rsquo;s two largest democracies.
The new deal signals growing momentum in bilateral military ties and underscores Washington&rsquo;s continued commitment to supporting India as a key security partner in South Asia and the Indo-Pacific.
