Former US President Donald Trump has issued a strong warning to Iran amid intensifying hostilities with Israel, stating that any attack on American interests will trigger an overwhelming military response.
Trump clarified that the US was not involved in the latest attacks on Iran. &ldquo;If we are attacked in any way, shape or form by Iran, the full strength and might of the US Armed Forces will come down on you at levels never seen before,&rdquo; he declared.
However, he also signalled openness to diplomacy, suggesting a deal between Iran and Israel could still end the ongoing conflict.
Tensions have surged after Israel launched Operation &ldquo;Rising Lion&rdquo; on Friday, targeting Iranian nuclear and military sites, including the Iranian Defence Ministry HQ and a nuclear research facility (SPND). The Israeli Defence Forces also claimed to have struck a location tied to Iran&rsquo;s hidden nuclear archives.
In retaliation, Iran&rsquo;s Revolutionary Guards struck Israeli infrastructure, aiming at energy and jet fuel facilities. Air raid sirens were heard across Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, underscoring the scale of the threat.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended the military offensive, saying it was vital to neutralise the existential danger posed by Iran. &ldquo;This operation will continue for as many days as it takes,&rdquo; he said.
Trump, meanwhile, urged Iran to negotiate. &ldquo;Iran must make a deal, before there is nothing left,&rdquo; he warned.
