US President Donald Trump has indicated that he will not seek a third term, acknowledging the constitutional limit that bars any individual from serving more than two terms as president.
Trump remarked that although his approval ratings are at a record high, he understands the constitutional restriction. He reaffirmed his support for the rule of law, saying the 22nd Amendment &ldquo;makes it pretty clear&rdquo; that no person can serve as president more than twice.
Trump also praised several Republican leaders who could potentially succeed him in 2028, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance, calling them &ldquo;very capable people.&rdquo;
When asked about the possibility of running for vice president, which the Constitution does not explicitly forbid, Trump dismissed the idea, calling it &ldquo;too cute&rdquo; and &ldquo;not right.&rdquo;
The 22nd Amendment, ratified in 1951, formally restricts US presidents to two terms. The law was introduced after Franklin D. Roosevelt won four consecutive presidential elections between 1932 and 1944.
Meanwhile, reports have surfaced about Trump undergoing an MRI scan at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Centre. Cardiologist Dr Jonathan Reiner, who once treated former Vice President Dick Cheney, told CNN that such a scan would only be done for specific medical reasons, though Trump insisted that his results were &ldquo;perfect.&rdquo;
