U.S. President Donald Trump voiced frustration over the lack of progress in resolving the Ukraine conflict after a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"We discussed many topics, including Iran and the war in Ukraine. I&rsquo;m not happy with the situation," Trump told reporters at Joint Base Andrews. "I didn't make any progress with him at all," he emphasised regarding efforts to settle the conflict.
The Kremlin confirmed that Thursday's call between the two leaders lasted nearly an hour. Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov stated that Trump urged an end to the hostilities, while Putin reiterated Russia&rsquo;s pursuit of a political, negotiated solution.
Putin updated Trump on humanitarian measures agreed upon during recent Russian-Ukrainian talks in Istanbul. However, he also stressed Russia&rsquo;s commitment to addressing the root causes of the conflict and achieving its long-term objectives.
In addition to Ukraine, the leaders discussed tensions in the Middle East, particularly Iran. Russia emphasised the importance of resolving international disputes through political and diplomatic means.
Both sides agreed to continue coordination through diplomatic, defence, and presidential channels. This was the fourth Trump-Putin call in six weeks and their sixth conversation in 2025.
