US President Donald Trump has announced the nomination of his longtime aide and strategist Sergio Gor as the next American Ambassador to India, along with the additional charge of Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump praised Gor&rsquo;s unwavering loyalty and organisational skills, noting his role in shaping the administration and campaign machinery. &ldquo;I am pleased to announce that I am promoting Sergio Gor to be our next United States Ambassador to the Republic of India, and Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs,&rdquo; Trump wrote.
Trump highlighted Gor&rsquo;s record as Director of Presidential Personnel, where he and his team recruited nearly 4,000 officials across federal departments. &ldquo;Sergio is a great friend who has been at my side for many years. He worked on my historic campaigns, published my best-selling books, and ran one of the biggest Super PACs supporting our movement. For the most populous region in the world, it is important that I have someone I can fully trust. Sergio will make an incredible ambassador,&rdquo; Trump added.
Responding to the nomination, Gor expressed gratitude on X: &ldquo;Beyond grateful to @realDonaldTrump for his incredible trust and confidence in nominating me. Nothing has made me prouder than serving the American people through the great work of this administration. It will be the honor of my life to represent the United States!&rdquo;
The announcement drew strong support from Trump&rsquo;s allies. Vice President JD Vance praised Gor as &ldquo;a great guy and a fantastic ambassador for our country to India.&rdquo; Secretary of State Marco Rubio welcomed the decision, saying Gor would be &ldquo;an excellent representative of America in one of the most important relationships we have in the world.&rdquo; FBI Director Kash Patel also congratulated Gor, calling him &ldquo;an outstanding pick for Ambassador to India.&rdquo;
At 38, Sergio Gor has emerged as one of Trump&rsquo;s most trusted operatives, known for his behind the scenes influence and role in vetting thousands of appointees for their loyalty.
