US President Donald Trump has once again asserted that his tariff policies gave Washington unmatched diplomatic strength, claiming they helped him resolve global conflicts, including between India and Pakistan.
Before leaving for the Middle East to oversee the release of hostages from Gaza following the Israel-Hamas ceasefire, Trump said that his tariff threats had played a key role in stopping wars. He added that pressure through trade duties helped de-escalate tensions between nuclear-armed neighbours India and Pakistan.
However, India has consistently denied Washington&rsquo;s involvement in mediating peace with Pakistan, maintaining that the ceasefire was achieved through direct military-level talks between the two nations.
Trump further stated that after completing his Middle East mission, he would consider addressing ongoing tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, emphasising his self-proclaimed record of resolving multiple wars.
The president also expressed disappointment over missing the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, which was awarded to Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, asserting that his peace efforts deserved recognition for saving lives across conflict zones.
