The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced on February 10 that Parvane Heidaridehkordi, 38, will be deported after officials cancelled her long-term visit pass. Her husband, Soo Thean Ling, 65, has been stripped of his permanent resident status. Both individuals have been designated as prohibited immigrants, barring their future entry into Singapore.
At the center of the investigation was a Singapore-registered travel agency where Heidaridehkordi played an operational role. The agency came under scrutiny after authorities discovered it had been sponsoring visa applications for foreign individuals with known terrorism connections attempting to enter Singapore. Further investigation revealed the agency was not operating independently but was instead functioning as a front, taking direction from an unidentified foreign operator based outside Singapore. As a result, the travel agency's registration has been revoked.
The case took another turn when authorities discovered that Soo had attempted to establish new travel agencies on two separate occasions while the investigation into the original agency was ongoing. According to the MHA, these attempts were viewed as deliberate efforts to create business entities through which his wife could continue facilitating entry for terrorism-linked individuals into Singapore. Both applications were rejected by authorities citing national security concerns.
The Ministry explained that Heidaridehkordi's prohibited immigrant status stems directly from her involvement in activities deemed threatening to Singapore's security. Soo's similar designation was made based on his family connection to Heidaridehkordi and his attempts to establish businesses that could have enabled continued security-compromising activities.
In its statement, the MHA emphasized its strict stance on foreign nationals who engage in activities that pose security risks to Singapore, warning that such individuals face both the revocation of their immigration privileges and deportation from the country.
This case highlights Singapore's ongoing vigilance in protecting its national security interests and its willingness to take decisive action against potential threats, regardless of the individuals' immigration status or business connections within the country.
