The banned Khalistani group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) has threatened to &ldquo;siege&rdquo; the Indian consulate in Vancouver on September 18, raising renewed concerns about diplomatic security in Canada.
In a widely circulated notice, the outfit urged Indo-Canadians to stay away from the consulate on that day, announcing a 12-hour blockade beginning at 8 a.m. (local time). 
The group linked the planned action to former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau&rsquo;s allegations of Indian involvement in the 2023 killing of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, while also accusing Indian consulates of operating &ldquo;spy networks&rdquo; against Khalistan campaigns.
SFJ released a poster targeting India&rsquo;s High Commissioner-designate Dinesh Patnaik, portraying him with crosshairs on his face and labeling him the &ldquo;new face of India&rsquo;s Hindutva terror in Canada.&rdquo;
The group further alleged that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) provided &ldquo;witness protection&rdquo; to SFJ coordinator Inderjeet Gosal, who was arrested last year in connection with a violent temple attack in the Greater Toronto Area.
The threat comes against the backdrop of strained India&ndash;Canada relations, which deteriorated sharply after Trudeau&rsquo;s 2023 accusations. 
India dismissed the claims as &ldquo;absurd&rdquo; and subsequently expelled six Canadian diplomats while recalling its own.
