From innovation and entrepreneurship to defense and bilateral ties, it&rsquo;s the enduring friendship between our two peoples that fuels this journey," the US Embassy in New Delhi quoted US Secretary of State Marco Rubio as saying in a post on X.</span></p>
<p data-start="966" data-end="1273"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Observers noted the timing of the statement, coinciding with images of PM Modi&rsquo;s interactions with Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping circulating widely across international media as the three leaders met just before the start of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin on Monday morning.</span></p>
<p data-start="1275" data-end="1405"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Following the summit, PM Modi held significant discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin before departing for New Delhi.</span></p>
<p data-start="1407" data-end="1622"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">The meetings took place amid US President Donald Trump imposing a 50 per cent tariff on Indian goods, citing what he described as unfair trade practices and New Delhi's refusal to stop importing Russian crude oil.</span></p>
<p data-start="1624" data-end="1809"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Experts, however, argue that by purchasing Russian energy, India has helped stabilize global markets, preventing a crisis and keeping inflation under control for itself and the world.</span></p>
<p data-start="1811" data-end="2101"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Russia, the world&rsquo;s second-largest crude oil producer with an output of around 9.5 million barrels per day &ndash; nearly 10 per cent of global demand &ndash; is also the second-largest exporter, shipping about 4.5 million barrels per day of crude and 2.3 million barrels per day of refined products.</span></p>
<p data-start="2103" data-end="2274"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Many analysts believe India has extended a financial lifeline to global markets by ensuring a continuous flow of oil, stabilizing prices, and maintaining market balance.</span></p>
<p data-start="2276" data-end="2468" data-is-last-node="" data-is-only-node=""><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">While President Trump&rsquo;s visit to India for the upcoming Quad Summit is yet to be finalized, President Putin is scheduled to visit India in December for the traditional annual bilateral summit.</span></p>
