Qatar&rsquo;s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has revised its official statement regarding the recent ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and Afghanistan, following objections raised by Afghan officials.
In its original version, the statement mentioned efforts to ease tensions &ldquo;along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.&rdquo; 
Afghan authorities objected to this phrasing, as they associate it with the disputed Durand Line &mdash; a 2,670-km boundary established in 1893 between Afghanistan and British India.
The revised statement now excludes the reference to the &ldquo;border,&rdquo; instead expressing hope that the ceasefire will contribute to reducing tensions &ldquo;between the two brotherly countries.&rdquo;
Afghanistan&rsquo;s Defence Minister, Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, clarified that discussions during the Doha talks with Pakistan did not include the Durand Line issue. 
The boundary remains a long-standing point of dispute, as Afghanistan has never officially recognised the Durand Line, which Pakistan inherited after its independence in 1947.
