In a provacative escalation of rhetoric, Pakistan&rsquo;s Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, has issued a direct nuclear threat to India from American soil, vowing devastating retaliation if his country faces an existential crisis. Speaking at a high-profile black-tie dinner in Tampa, Florida, Munir declared, &ldquo;We are a nuclear nation. If we think we are going down, we&rsquo;ll take half the world down with us.&rdquo;
The remarks, delivered before a select gathering of over 100 influential guests from the Pakistani diaspora, marked the first known instance of a Pakistani military leader issuing such threats against India from US territory. Attendees, including foreign dignitaries, were prohibited from carrying mobile phones or recording devices.
Munir&rsquo;s warning extended beyond nuclear rhetoric to the contentious Indus Waters Treaty. He accused New Delhi of jeopardizing the livelihoods of 250 million people by placing the agreement in abeyance following recent tensions. &ldquo;We will wait for India to build a dam, and when it does, we will destroy it with 10 missiles,&rdquo; he warned, adding, &ldquo;The Indus River is not India&rsquo;s private property. We have no shortage of missiles, praise be to God.&rdquo;
The Army Chief further taunted India over the recent four-day military conflict, questioning New Delhi&rsquo;s decision to withhold official casualty figures. Drawing on religious symbolism, Munir referenced a previous tweet featuring Surah Al-Fil from the Quran alongside an image of billionaire Mukesh Ambani &mdash; a veiled threat aimed at India&rsquo;s economic elite.
He outlined a chilling strategy, saying Pakistan would target India&rsquo;s most valuable eastern assets before advancing westward. Using what he himself called a &ldquo;crude analogy,&rdquo; Munir compared India to a luxury Mercedes and Pakistan to a gravel-filled dump truck, claiming that in a collision, the luxury car would be the real loser.
This was Munir&rsquo;s second visit to the United States in two months, following a June trip that included a private luncheon with former US President Donald Trump. During his Florida appearance, he again nominated Trump for a Nobel Prize, while hinting at a possible political future for himself, remarking that &ldquo;politics is too serious to be left to the politicians.&rdquo;
Munir&rsquo;s speech has drawn sharp international attention, further straining the already fragile relationship between two nuclear-armed neighbors, and igniting fresh concerns about South Asia&rsquo;s security landscape.
