In a rare and bold diplomatic move, the Netherlands has imposed an entry ban on Israel&rsquo;s far right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir. Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Valdekamp confirmed the ban in a letter to lawmakers, stating that both ministers had "repeatedly incited violence by settlers against the Palestinian population" and made public statements "calling for ethnic cleansing in the Gaza Strip."&nbsp;
Reacting defiantly on X, Minister Ben Gvir said, &ldquo;Even if I&rsquo;m banned from all of Europe, I&rsquo;ll keep working for our country. Terrorists are free and Jews are boycotted.&rdquo; His statement further fueled debate around Europe&rsquo;s increasingly vocal criticism of Israel's handling of the war in Gaza.
The diplomatic sanction follows remarks by Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof, who recently confirmed that the Netherlands is "considering national measures" against Israel in addition to supporting a proposed European Union suspension of research funding to Israeli institutions.
This development coincides with a partial humanitarian pause in military operations announced by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). In an attempt to increase aid flow, the IDF began a daily tactical halt from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in areas not currently under ground operations, such as Deir al-Balah, al-Mawasi, and parts of Gaza City.
The military emphasized that the pause coordinated with the United Nations and international aid agencies is intended to allow secure corridors for the delivery of food and medical supplies.
