Multiple earthquakes struck Taiwan on Wednesday, triggering strong tremors across several regions, including the capital city, Taipei. A magnitude 5.7 earthquake caused buildings to shake across the city, alarming residents and prompting authorities to monitor the situation closely.
The quake occurred at a shallow depth of around 10 kilometres, which intensified the tremors felt on the surface. Seismic activity was reported across wide parts of northern Taiwan following the impact.
Separately, a stronger earthquake measuring magnitude 6.1 struck southeastern Taiwan&rsquo;s Taitung County, according to the island&rsquo;s Central Weather Administration. The tremor was felt in nearby areas, though there were no immediate reports of casualties or major structural damage.
Taiwan is located along the Pacific Ring of Fire, one of the world&rsquo;s most seismically active regions, and experiences frequent earthquakes. Emergency services remain on alert as assessments continue.
