<p data-start="257" data-end="647"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">The blaze broke out on Sunday night, prompting a swift emergency response. Flames spread rapidly through the 100-bed facility, with several residents seen hanging out of windows awaiting rescue. Firefighters responded immediately, carrying out a large-scale rescue operation and transporting multiple victims to nearby hospitals. However, the exact number of casualties remains unconfirmed.</span></p>
<p data-start="649" data-end="820"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Chief Bacon stated during a press briefing, &ldquo;Unfortunately, at this time we have multiple fatalities and multiple injuries, and we are still working to get those numbers.&rdquo;</span></p>
<p data-start="822" data-end="1112"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Approximately 50 firefighters were deployed to battle the intense, smoke-filled fire. Additional support was brought in from surrounding areas to assist with operations. Bacon noted that heavy machinery may be needed to partially demolish parts of the building to access lingering hotspots.</span></p>
<p data-start="1114" data-end="1289"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">&ldquo;Our hearts go out to all the families and people that were injured here and lost their lives,&rdquo; he said, highlighting the rapid response and challenges faced by the fire crew.</span></p>
<p data-start="1291" data-end="1383"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Five firefighters were also hospitalized with minor injuries sustained during the operation.</span></p>
<p data-start="1385" data-end="1565"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Authorities have set up a family reunification center at the chapel of St. Anne&rsquo;s Hospital, and a shelter was opened at the Timao Centre on Bay Street to house evacuated residents.</span></p>
