A stabbing attack aboard a train travelling towards London has left ten passengers injured, nine of them critically, prompting counterterrorism officers to intervene as investigations intensify.
The incident unfolded on Saturday evening aboard a service bound for King&rsquo;s Cross from Doncaster. The train made an emergency stop at Huntingdon station in Cambridgeshire at around 7:42 p.m. after reports of a violent assault involving a large knife.
British Transport Police confirmed that the event had been declared a major incident. Two individuals were arrested at the scene following the rapid deployment of armed officers. One person suffered injuries that were not deemed life-threatening, while the rest were rushed to hospitals in critical condition. No fatalities have been reported at this stage.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos, with one passenger recalling an &ldquo;extremely bloodied&rdquo; victim. Armed police were seen ordering a suspect to &ldquo;get down&rdquo; before deploying a Taser weapon to subdue him. The platform area quickly filled with emergency responders, including air ambulance teams.
Chief Superintendent Chris Casey expressed sympathies for the victims and their families, labelling the attack as &ldquo;shocking.&rdquo; He urged patience as investigators work to determine a motive, cautioning against early speculation.
