Meanwhile, United States Vice President JD Vance arrived in Israel on an official visit, accompanied by Donald Trump&rsquo;s Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner. The visit comes amid heightened tensions and widespread condemnation of the continued violence, as Washington&rsquo;s role in mediating peace remains under scrutiny.
Since the war began in October 2023, Israeli attacks have killed at least 68,216 Palestinians and wounded more than 170,000 others. On the Israeli side, 1,139 people were killed and around 200 taken captive during the October 7 attacks that triggered the conflict.
