According to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), the IAF targeted missile launchers, Iranian soldiers, and military infrastructure that were either used in or preparing for attacks on Israel. The IDF confirmed that launchers involved in Sunday&rsquo;s missile barrage were &ldquo;swiftly neutralised.&rdquo;
Earlier in the day, Iran fired dozens of ballistic missiles, hitting multiple locations across central Israel. At least 16 people were injured, including two children and a man in his 30s who sustained moderate shrapnel wounds. One missile landed in Haifa without prior warning, exposing potential lapses in Israel&rsquo;s alert systems.
Emergency responders from Magen David Adom (MDA) are actively managing more than 10 impact zones.
Iran&rsquo;s attack followed US President Donald Trump&rsquo;s confirmation of a major airstrike on three Iranian nuclear sites &mdash; Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. Trump labeled the operation as one of the most lethal in recent decades, aimed at crippling Iran&rsquo;s nuclear capabilities.
The broader conflict erupted on June 13, when Israel launched a surprise airstrike on Iran, which it claimed was a preemptive move to prevent Tehran from developing nuclear weapons &mdash; a claim Iran denies.
Tensions have soared across the region, already destabilized by Israel&rsquo;s continuing military operations in Gaza since October 2023. With the US now directly involved, fears of a wider regional war have intensified.
