<p data-start="390" data-end="713"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">According to the IDF, the strike targeted a command center in central Tehran based on precise intelligence and a timely opportunity. "Air Force fighter jets struck a manned headquarters, killing Ali Shadmani, the most senior military commander and Khamenei&rsquo;s closest military aide," the IDF said in a statement posted on X.</span></p>
<p data-start="715" data-end="874"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">This marks the second time in recent weeks that Israel has killed a top Iranian military commander in an effort to dismantle Iran&rsquo;s military command structure.</span></p>
<p data-start="876" data-end="1269"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Shadmani reportedly held the position of Chief of War Staff and Commander of the Armed Forces Emergency Command. He also oversaw operations involving both the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Iranian army. Before his promotion, Shadmani served as deputy commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Emergency Command and led the Operations Department of Iran's Armed Forces General Staff.</span></p>
<p data-start="1271" data-end="1448"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">The IDF said Shadmani played a key role in directing Iranian fire plans that threatened Israel, and his death is considered a significant blow to the Iranian military hierarchy.</span></p>
<p data-start="1450" data-end="1748"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">The Khatam al-Anbiya command, which he led, was responsible for combat management and approval of offensive operations. His assassination follows the recent death of Gen. Gholam Ali Rashid, who was killed by Israel in &lsquo;Operation Rising Lion,&rsquo; a campaign aimed at neutralizing Iran's nuclear threat.</span></p>
<p data-start="1750" data-end="1885"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Following Rashid&rsquo;s death, Khamenei had publicly appointed Shadmani to the top military post, recognizing his experience and leadership.</span></p>
<p data-start="1887" data-end="2167"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Earlier on Tuesday, Israel also reported the destruction of multiple Iranian missile systems. The IDF stated that its airstrikes targeted and destroyed infrastructure used to store and launch surface-to-surface missiles, UAVs, and surface-to-air missile launchers in western Iran.</span></p>
