The Israeli military confirmed that it intercepted a missile launched from Yemen in the early hours of Thursday, following air raid sirens across central Israel, including Tel Aviv. Emergency service Magen David Adom reported no injuries.
The attack is believed to be a retaliation by Yemen&rsquo;s Houthi group after Israeli forces launched widespread airstrikes on Sunday, targeting Houthi-controlled ports&mdash;Hodeidah, Ras Isa, As Salif&mdash;and infrastructure like the Ras Qantib power station and the Galaxy Leader ship, allegedly used to monitor Red Sea traffic.
The Houthis, in turn, fired hypersonic ballistic missiles and drones at key Israeli targets, including Ben Gurion Airport, Ashdod Port, Ashkelon&rsquo;s power station, and Eilat Port. Houthi spokesperson Yahya Sarea claimed the missiles reached their targets and criticised Israel&rsquo;s interception systems.
The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) stated that about 20 jets dropped over 50 bombs in the retaliatory operation. Iran condemned Israel&rsquo;s airstrikes, calling them &ldquo;flagrant crimes.&rdquo;
The Houthis insist they will continue their attacks until the war on Gaza ends and the blockade is lifted.
